Purpose

  • The toggle clamp can be pulled back to allow and up and down insertion of the part or release the toggle clamp and slide the part in from the sides.
  • After the component is set in place, the head of the clamp will apply an increased force on the component at the end of the stroke.

  • Periodically check for cracks in the clamps due to loads exceeding 20N.

    • A fulcrum pin is selected to allow the toggle clamp to slide without extra clearance.

Verification of main components

  • Verify whether the toggle clamp can generate the press fit load.
  • Assumed press fit load: 20N
  • Clamping force at the end of toggle clamp stroke: 392N
  • 20N < 392N is OK

Other Design Consideration

  • Simplified press fitting is performed by a toggle clamp.
  • Smooth sliding facilitated by fulcrum pins.
  • Not suitable when load management is needed.
  • With rubber feet, easy to move the part where needed, and the non-conductive rubber ensures sound operation where static electricity is of concern.
