Features and Principles of Vacuum Generators

Vacuum generators

Machine that generates a vacuum from compressed air.

Features

  • Provides a simple means of generating a vacuum using factory compressed air.
  • Uses a vacuum pad to permit various workpieces to be conveyed by suction.

Used for conveying workpieces by suction.

Principles of the vacuum generator
The principle of a vacuum generator is that a vacuum is generated by feeding in compressed air, and the compressed air is squeezed by a nozzle, discharged at high speed and flows into a diffuser. During high speed jet flow, pressure decreases and a vacuum is generated. A nozzle and diffuser structure is created to obtain a high level of vacuum pressure through high-speed jet flow, with differences in shape and dimensions determining the vacuum pressure, displacement (intake volume) and air consumption.

Main points

  • Check the required level of vacuum pressure.
  • Check the suction flow rate.
  • Check the consumption flow rate.
  • Check the discharge method.
    • Open air release: discharged to atmosphere via discharge holes
    • Concentrated discharge: releases discharge from a fitting connected to a discharge port (in cleanrooms etc.)
  • Check the supplied pressure.
  • Check the tube diameter and screw size.
